A platform game version of Lost Planet 2 was developed by Capcom Mobile and published by Gameloft for mobile phones in 2010.
Gameplay[]
A 2D side-scrolling platform shooter game, Lost Planet 2's levels are populated by Jungle Pirate and NEVEC guards and Akrid. The player has to keep their thermal energy (T-ENG) above a set level in order to avoid death. As Jed they are able to throw grenades and use a grappling hook to reach high points, and as Grace they are sometimes required to hack terminals in order to advance. Data posts act as checkpoints once they are activated. In a few levels the player controls a Vital Suit (VS) against either an enemy VS or a giant Akrid.
Plot[]
It has been 12 years since the Trial Era; the planet E.D.N. III's snow and ice have been melted, revealing jungles and deserts. Snow Pirates now have a rivalry with Jungle Pirates. Over the previous week, Snow Pirates have been disappearing, with one taken right from a Snow Pirate camp. There are tracks heading to a jungle, so a Snow Pirate named Jed sets out to investigate. After fighting his way through to a Jungle Pirate camp, he is captured and imprisoned. A Jungle Pirate named Grace is sent to interrogate him, and it is revealed that Jungle Pirates, including Grace's brother, have also been disappearing recently, with the Jungle Pirates thinking the Snow Pirates are responsible for it. Grace realizes that NeoVenus Construction (NEVEC) must be behind this after Jed tells her that Snow Pirates have been disappearing as well, and he convinces her to help him escape, and after doing so they flee to an abandoned section of the camp (killing guards and Akrid on the way), where Grace hacks into an old terminal in order to gain information on the results of an investigation of where captured NEVEC troops came from. The area is full of Akrid nests, which are destroyed by Jed to buy Grace enough time. The NEVEC troops came from an NEVEC research outpost, so they head there. They find a town on the way, and decide to find transport so they can make it to the outpost. Jed gets an energy reading from nearby, and they split up to search for its source. Grace finds a few Vital Suits along with the source, and takes one. She is ambushed by a guard VS and after dealing with it, tells Jed to get a VS too. Jed is also ambushed after getting inside a VS and destroys the guard. They finally reach the outpost. Jed decides to get to the main building through the cliffs, and after getting there he tells Grace to come in. After hacking into a terminal to gain information on what happened to the kidnapped people, Grace is shot by a guard. Jed kills the guard and some NEVEC members who are attempting to escape with a Vital Suit. The information Jed found is that the kidnapped people were exposed to a Category-G Akrid. He disables the security systems holding it and kills the Akrid. The Snow Pirates are determined to continue protecting the planet from NEVEC.
