Renard LaRoche
Renard LaRoche is a rival contractor of Jim's at the Coronis settlement, But little is known of him at this time.
History[]
Laroche was an Utility Rig pilot, one of NeoVenus Construction employees at Coronis base, apparently one of the original Coronis Base expeditionnaries. He worked along the other RIG pilot, Jenette Diaz, and after her disappearance, became the only known RIG pilot.
Lost Planet 3[]
After one of Artemis descent pods crashed, he is sent to rescue their occupants, Jim Peyton, Diaz's successor, and Dr. Kendrick Kovac. He arrives right in time to save the first from an attack of Akrids. During the return to Coronis Base, he took another way and his RIG was attacked and destroyed by a giant Vorgg. He survived unharmed, but was forced to flee and entrench inside a tube nearby Diaz's cavern, besieged by minor Akrids. Ironically, he was rescued by Peyton itself.
After that, he worked alongside with Jim Peyton. Their relationship was good and bad depending of the times. Mainly, he despised the fact than Jim made the works he didn't dare to, as Peyton was Phil Braddock's man. He stole Payton's Hunting Rifle from the crashed pod, selling it to "Birdie", the Quartermaster, which in turn reselled it to Peyton.
After Peyton's began having a double life, working alongside NEVEC's crew, and also joining the tribe of Snow Pirates, Laroche denounced him to NEVEC's headquarters, which came in an armed expedition led by Caleb Isenberg. He warned them about an ambush Peyton had prepared and engaged him with his RIG on the top of Shackleton's Peak, but was defeated and its RIG destroyed.
Once again at Coronis base, Laroche wasn't welcomed by NEVEC troopers, and two of their soldiers, in fact, blamed him by Peyton's actions, and threatened him, but ironically, was rescued by Peyton again. After Jim and Charles Braddock destroyed NEVEC's cruiser, he joined the Snow Pirates.
Several decades later, after an ancient Jim was trapped in a gallery collapse, Laroche came at his rescue, but it was too late: he had died. After saying goodbie at his good friend, Laroche escorted Jim's granddaughter, Diana Peyton, out of there.
RIG[]
Laroche has a much more advanced RIG than the rest of the base crew and often mocks Peyton's RIG because of its age. His RIG was heavily damaged by the Vorgg, but later was repaired. It is unknown if it was salvaged and rebuilt again after Payton's destroyed it a second time.

- Ends up fighting and losing to Peyton during a RIG fight due to malicious, forged information from NEVEC.
Trivia[]
- Owns a unique assault rifle nicknamed "Le Destructeur" (The Destroyer), namely because of its supposed higher damage output.
- Is of French descent, and often swears in it, usually at Peyton.
- He is Voiced and Motion Captured by Jonathan Roumie.
